QUETTA:

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized more than two tons of Hashish and arrested four drug smugglers in Quetta on Monday morning.

According to an ANF spokesman, a major operation against drug smuggling was carried out on Western Bypass near Mengalabad in Quetta.

“Drugs were recovered from a truck,” he said, adding that a small vehicle was also caught during the operation in which two suspects were getting the drugs-laden truck route cleared as facilitators. The spokesman added that a total of four suspects were arrested from both the vehicles and they belonged to Qila Abdullah, Quetta and Chaman.

The accused attempted to smuggle drugs from Chaman to Sindh via Quetta. A case has been registered against the arrested accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act. The accused are being investigated for the arrest of other members of the group.

Balochistan is considered to be one of the major narcotics routes in the country. Recently, the ANF and other related agencies have intensified such operations in the province.
