CHARSADDA:

A woman was beaten to death with a “hammer” by her husband in Charsadda district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Saturday.

Police told The Express Tribune that the complainant lodged an FIR with the Nisata police, stating that they resided in Turlandi village of Charsadda.

“On Saturday my father, Javed Iqbal, had a verbal fight with my mother after which he started beating my mother,” he stated, adding that she moved to the room to save herself but the accused followed here with a hammer in his hand and put her to death by beating her brutally.

The accused then managed to escape after committing the crime.

The police registered an FIR and started investigation into the case. “The police raided several places and finally arrested the accused within a few hours of the crime,” a police official said.

This was the second incident in the past few days as a few days ago in Swat, a disgruntled husband callously shot his wife dead in broad daylight, leaving her minor son traumatised and grieving beside her body.

The gruesome incident sent shockwaves throughout the local community and beyond as images of lifeless Nayla Bibi and her inconsolable son circulated on social media.
