Environment Protection Department officials have issued notices to 11 industrial units in the provincial capital and sealed four factories in Sheikhupura on charges of violating the anti-smog rules.
Notices have also been issued to five industrial units in Gujranwala, one in Faisalabad and six in Multan.
According to the department, a fine of Rs900,00 was imposed and cases registered against the owners of four units.
After the Environment Protection Department launched a crackdown across Punjab to curb smog, 11 industrial units were issued notices for violating the rules in the provincial capital. Three of the units were sealed and slapped with a fine of Rs300,000.
Similarly, 18 industrial units were inspected in Sheikhupura and four were sealed. In Gujranwala, 13 units were inspected and notices were issued to five of them.
In Faisalabad, three industrial units were inspected and a notice was issued to one unit.
About 30 industries were inspected in Multan and notices were issued to six in addition to the imposition of a fine of Rs900,000.
The department’s officials said 195 industrial units were inspected in other districts of the province.
