Toddler falls into manhole, dies

Aggrieved father asks where he should go for justice and accountability

KARACHI:

A toddler boy died after tragically falling into an open manhole in Memon Goth on Monday.

The area residents pulled out the little boy's body from the sewer.

A distressing video has surfaced on social media, in which the area residents were seen bring the lifeless body of two-year-old Noman Abro, wearing green clothes in accordance with the Independence Day celebration.

Abdul Rehman Abro, the deceased child's father, said that he was in his brother's house when the unfortunate incident took place.

He said that the child was playing outside the house when he fell into the open manhole.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, the grieved father questioned where he should go for justice and accountability.

According the area residents, the manhole had remained uncovered for several weeks and despite multiple complaints lodged with the authorities concerned, no action was taken.

Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad assured the grieved family that stringent measures would be taken against those responsible for the tragedy and no excuses would be tolerated.
