In a significant breakthrough, the Clifton police claimed on Wednesday that they have apprehended two suspects believed to be part of a notorious gang specialised in burglarising homes. Ashraf, alias Ichho, and Asif were apprehended during a routine police patrol in the area, according to police.
The suspects have reportedly been committing burglaries for the past fifteen years primarily in the Defense Housing Authority (DHA) and Clifton. Their third accomplice is already serving a prison sentence, police said. Stolen cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables have been recovered from the possession of the suspects. Further investigations are under way.
In another incident, an armed robbery near Matric Board Office in North Nazimabad resulted in the injury and subsequent demise of Aminuddin Alvi, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin. Police have registered a murder case against the unidentified armed culprits based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s sister. She informed the police that her brother, a medical professional, had arrived in Karachi from Canada just two days prior to the incident.
On Wednesday, Aminuddin was en route to a shop for Eid with some children from the area when two individuals on a motorcycle intercepted him near the Paposhnagar railway gate. The assailants, brandishing firearms, attempted to rob him, and when he resisted.
