KARACHI:

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Friday inaugurated a new football ground and community centre in Ibrahim Hyderi, thanks to a Rs1.9 billion project supported by the World Bank.

The development of Baloch Mujahid Football Ground and Community Centre aims to revitalise the historical fishing town along the seashore, focusing on various infrastructure developments.

Talking to the media at the event Shah announced that the national and provincial assemblies will dissolve automatically after completing their constitutional term on August 13, following which general elections were likely to be held in October.

The Pakistan Peoples Party aims to secure a resounding majority in these elections and once again serve the people. "PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stated that party's focus during the election campaign will primarily be on Punjab, Shah said.

"In this country, there is only one leader, Bilawal Bhutto," the CM said talking to the media at the football ground launching ceremony.

Notable inaugural attendees included Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Deputy Mayor Salman Murad, MNA Agha Rafiullah, MPA Mehmood Alam Jamote, and others.

The CM emphasised that this project reflects the government's commitment to youth welfare and prioritising the development of future generations.

The upgrades in Ibrahim Hyderi Village were made possible through the Karachi Neighborhood Improvement Project (KNIP), which encompassed the reconstruction of roads, the creation of community spaces, and improved connectivity.

The football ground received significant attention by installing floodlighting towers, LED lights, access gates, and landscaping enhancements.

The community centre now features an equipment room, a pavilion with benches, and an upgraded stadium capacity for a better spectator experience. The project also incorporated infrastructure resilience, including a stormwater drainage system.

Overall, CM Murad commended the successful completion of these enhancements and assured the public of the government's dedication to uplifting living standards and fostering an inclusive community.
