ISLAMABAD:

The LPG Industries Association of Pakistan (LPGAP) has pleaded with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow third-party access for commercial utilisation of SSGC LPG (Pvt) Limited’s facilities at Port Qasim to those players interested in building LPG storages.

In a letter to the premier, LPGAP Chairman Irfan Khokhar said that Pakistan lacked LPG storages and the permission for third-party access was aimed at increasing LPG reserves from two days to 30 days.

“We appreciate your efforts and decisions taken in the past for LPG industry’s prosperity,” he said, adding that the government’s help to maintain the LPG supply chain throughout Pakistan had made the fuel available at economical rates for all consumers.

He pointed out that the largest LPG storage unit was going to be installed at Port Qasim, which would maintain an uninterrupted supply chain and bridge demand-supply gap during shortage of natural gas, petrol and diesel.
