Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi has approached the Election Commission of Pakistan, seeking delay in polls on reserved seats in the city council amid a rigorous crackdown - coupled with political revenge against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf - apotential coalition partner of the JI in the local government.
JI Karachi deputy chief Raja Arif Sultan wrote the letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.
He pointed out that the entire country was going through political crises and anarchy, whereas in Karachi the political revenge has further aggravated the crackdown against the PTI.
