The Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) call for shutter down strike against runaway inflation saw mixed response in the sprawling metropolitan Karachi division. The strike remained peaceful.
Traders in the main commercial hubs of old city area, Liaquatabad kept there shutters down in support of TLP's call however, markets in Tariq Road, Clifton, Hyderi, KDA, Nazimabad, Korangi and other commercial centres of the city remained open.
Shops in the residential areas opened up in afternoon. However, some transporters kept their vehicles off the road to avoid any loss in case of law and order situation. Many school and college van drivers had already sent text messages to clients that they will not be hauling children due to fear on strike day.
Meanwhile, the markets in most parts of Sindh remained closed on Monday on the call of strike given by TLP against the inflation. However, the public transporters did not respond to the TLP's call as the inter-city transport continued unhindered even though many petrol pumps were shut. The strike was observed in Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Jamshoro, Matiari, Thatta, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Sukkur and other districts of Sindh.
