Police office attack causes panic, traffic chaos

Vehicles on Sharae Faisal diverted to alternative routes

KARACHI:

Commuters heading home from work in the evening on the city's main traffic artery, Sharae Faisal, were panicked when the attack on police office started.

There was total chaos as people took u-turns in the middle of the road as crackle of gunfire and bomb explosions filled the air in the area between Sindhi Muslim and Jinnah Hospital intersections.

The news of attack on Karachi police chief office spread like wildfire and thanks to the social media and cellular connectivity, people took diversions from Sharae Faisal.

However, to prevent any civilian casualties, a large contingent of police and Rangers reached the spot and blocked the flow of traffic, while traffic police personnel also reached the spot.

Traffic was diverted from Avari towards Cantt Station and Teen Talwar Clifton, while traffic from Lucky Star-Jinnah Hospital intersection was diverted towards Saddar.

Moreover, traffic coming from Nursery was diverted towards Korangi Road via FTC-Gora Qabristan turn. Similarly, people heading from Sunset Boulevard on Korangi Road and travelling towards Sharae Faisal were told to head towards Hino Chowrangi in the Korangi Industrial Area take a detour and then come back on Sahrae Faisal.
