From ‘Pathaan’ to ‘Jawaan’: Presenting the seven most-awaited Bollywood films of 2023

Will the Indian film industry finally bounce back this year?

Bollywood might have had a tough 2022 given the ongoing trend of boycotts and a number of flops hitting the cinemas, the filmgoers are truly hoping for a better 2023!

With three of Shah Rukh Khan’s films ready for a 2023 release, Bollywood makers and producers are hopeful for a fruitful next year at the box office in India and worldwide. While the likes of Brahmastra, and Ponnin Selvan I among others still manage to bring in decent numbers, there are many films by Bollywood superstars in the pipeline for the upcoming year. Here are seven Bollywood films we can’t wait to watch in 2023

Pathaan

First up is Shah Rukh Khan’s big return to the cinemas. Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan stars Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles. The film’s director Siddharth Anand has also announced that Pathaan is “designed to be the biggest action spectacle from the Hindi film industry,” as per The Indian Express.

Kisi Ka Bhai… Kisi Ki Jaan

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been a trend starter in many ways but his hairstyle in the 2003 film Tere Naam, without a doubt, tops the list. On the occasion of completing 34 long years in Indian cinema, the Dabangg actor unveiled his first look from his upcoming film titled Kisi Ka Bhai…Kisi Ki Jaan. While he teased the film’s shooting a while ago, what people didn’t see coming was Khan bringing his infamous middle-parting hairstyle and black sunnies back again after decades! While the details have been kept under wraps, we can’t wait for the film!

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is one of the most anticipated films of the next year – and for good reason. The film brings back several popular onscreen couples and a plot to remember. The film stars Gully Boy famed reel life couple, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh alongside veteran actors, Jaya Bachchan Dharmendra besides Shabana Azmi. Dharmendra and Jaya had previously shared screen space in several hit numbers namely Sholay, Guddi, Chupke Chupke to name a few.

Animal

We have news for Ranbir Kapoor’s fans out there. It is about his next film with Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Movie critic and influencer Taran Adarsh has announced that Ranbir’s Animal is due to release on August 11, 2023. The tweet that disclosed the news also mentioned that this is a first-time collaboration between the Bollywood actor and the director.

Sandeep is also known for directing the Telugu film Arjun Reddy, featuring Vijay Deverakonda. The announcement read, “Ranbir Kapoor – Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal arrives on August 11, 2023. Ranbir Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s [Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh] first collaboration Animal to release in cinemas on August 11, 2023, Independence Day weekend.”

Tiger 3

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif two are clearly very bankable and Ali Abbas Zafar knows that too because he has already finalised the story and script for third installment of his Tiger franchise. According to the same report, he has already discussed the storyline with the actors and producer Aditya Chopra. The soon-to-be-trilogy began back in 2012 with Ek Tha Tiger, which was a box office hit. Its 2017 sequel Tiger Zinda Hai managed to create a new box office record as well.

Dunki

The dream trio is here! Shah Rukh, seasoned actor Taapsee Pannu and celebrated filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani on Tuesday announced their first feature film collaboration Dunki, set to release in theatres on December 22, 2023.

The actor took to Twitter to share the title and the release date of the film with a video, two years after reports of him collaborating with the Munna Bhai MBBS director emerged online. Calling Hirani his Santa Claus, the superstar said he is humbled and excited to work with the filmmaker on his next year’s Christmas weekend release.

Jawan

Shah Rukh’s fans are in for a treat next year! Bollywood’s King Khan, who had taken a hiatus from work after Zero, is all set to dominate the big screen with multiple releases. Apart from Pathaan and Dunki, Khan has now officially announced his most ambitious project yet with South filmmaker and director Atlee Kumar.

Produced by Gauri Khan, the film is set to release across five languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada in theatres all over the world. Red Chillies shared the teaser on their official Instagram with the caption, “When Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee come together, it’s bound to blow your mind. Get ready for the action entertainer Jawan, in cinemas on June 2, 2023!”
