A sequel for the 2021 murder mystery film Haseen Dilruba is in the works. The Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey starrer was the most-watched Hindi film in 2021 on Netflix and got mixed reviews from both audiences and critics.

In a conversation with Times of India, Vikrant confirmed the news of the sequel. “I am confirming that it’s coming. A lot of it is going to be really different. Except for me and Taapsee, there are so many new things. It’s another crazy experience. Even earlier, we had no expectations that it will be so loved, the story, and the world around the story," he said.

He further added, “We had left an interesting open-ending buffer for a second part and how we can do that and luckily for us, the audience responded and in 15 days, I will be going to start the shoot for it."

As far as the storyline is concerned, all we know for now is that writer Kanika Dhillon is toying with the idea of picking up the narrative from where the first part ended, a report in Mid Day stated.

The makers were interested in making a sequel to the film because the pulpy treatment to a murder mystery worked really well in the Indian market. The publication claimed that Haseen Dilruba had an impact that no Indian film has been able to match on OTT yet.

Apart from Taapsee and Vikrant, the movie also starred Harshvardhan Rane, Aditya Srivastava, Dayashankar Panday, Shivaji Satam and Alka Kaushal.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Vikrant will next be seen in Gaslight alongside Sara Ali Khan in the lead role. Taapsee, on the other hand, has films like Shabaash Mithu, Dobaaraa, Woh Ladki Hai Kahan? and Blurr in the timeline. She has also been roped in for Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki co-starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.
