Wheat shortage and flour crisis intensified across the district and the wheat prices continued to rise rapidly. Price of a sack of 100 kilograms of wheat has reached Rs13,000.

Mill owners have raised the price of a kilogram of wheat flour to Rs160. The price of government flour is Rs64 per kilogram but its supply falls far short of demand. Long queues of people were seen outside the sale points.

Flour mills are not getting wheat as per demand. Flour prices are also increasing. Wheat is missing from the market. Flour mills are unable to produce flour as per demand. Despite public demand, enormous difficulties and problems, the official quota of Bhakkar could not be increased. According to the requirement, the government quota is insufficient.

Only 1,010 sacks are being given to flour mills for a population of nearly 2.2 million of Bhakkar.

When the price went up, the landlords sold all their stocks of wheat. The price of mills flour at Rs150 per kilogram has increased the hardships of the people.
