KARACHI:

The rising incidents of street crimes in the city have made citizens to believe that the police force is either incompetent or complacent. Robbers looted a medical store located at Five Star Chowrangi, in North Nazimabad, on Thursday. The incident was caught on CCTV cameras installed in the store.

In the CCTV footage, available with The Express Tribune, two armed robbers can be seen entering the medical store, collecting cash and mobile phones from the cash counter, and filling a plastic bag with other valuables before fleeing.

Similarly, in a brazen incident, muggers armed with handguns and a Kalashnikov robbed a large number of citizens on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. They robbed more than 20 people, who were enjoying tea on chairs outside a tea stall in the KDA Market, which is located at a stone's throw from Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station.

The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media as users shared it thousands of times to show that robbers roam freely and strike with impunity on the roads of the metropolitan city.

After the audacious robbery, the affected citizens protested outside the police station. Police closed the tea stall instead of increasing patrolling in the areas. Interestingly, two weeks ago a similar robbery had happened hardly a few yards away from the scene of the latest crime.
