Mob lynches robber, injures accomplice

SHO says injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where one, identified as Ahmed, was pronounced dead

KARACHI:

A group of citizens lynched a suspected robber and injured another during a robbery bid in Orangi Town on Saturday.

According to the SHO of Pakistan Bazaar police station Riaz Ahmed Bhutto, two suspects looted Rs20,000 from a shop at Islam Chowk in Sector 11, Orangi Town.

"In the meantime, area people gathered outside the shop. One suspect tried to flee on his motorbike firing shots in the air while people caught his unarmed accomplice and gave him a severe beating," the SHO said.

Bhutto said, the mob was able to nab the fleeing suspect and beat him too.

The SHO said both injured suspects were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where one, identified as 30-year-old Ahmed, was pronounced dead while his accomplice, identified as 22-year-old Zubair Rauf, was admitted for treatment.

Bhutto said the police recovered a pistol and a motorbike from the suspects. The bike was snatched from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.
