Dug-up, scrubbed roads pose serious threat to motorists

Roads are pockmarked with potholes or scrubbed for repairs, according to residents

Karachi is the financial hub of the country, but its infrastructure remains in a pretty bad shape. The derelict roads infrastructure is not only a nuisance for travellers but it is also increasing complaints of backache and joint pains, and mental stress among citizens.

The roads are pockmarked with potholes or scrubbed for repairs, according to residents. At some places, the roads are dug up for laying sewerage or water pipelines but left as is. This results in travellers caught up in agonizing traffic snarl-ups in the city. The dilapidated roads are a sore sight to behold.

The condition of roads equally bad in the entire city, but the situation in Garden, Soldier Bazaar, Jahangir Road, Liaquatabad, New Town, Azam Basti, Bahadurabad, and Korangi Industrial Area is particularly terrible.

According to auto-rickshaw drivers, they do not earn as much as they have to spend on the repairs of their tri-wheelers. Motorcyclists and motorists say that apart from financial losses derelict roads are also causing them physical and mental problems.
