Gang busted for abducting girl

Around 70 tolas of gold jewelry worth Rs10 million and Rs0.6 million worth of cash were recovered

Waris Khan Police claimed to have busted a three-member gang accused of abducting a mentally challenged girl and stealing gold ornaments and cash worth Rs0.6 million.

Addressing a press conference at the Waris Khan police station, district superintendent of police Mirza Tahir Sikandar said the accused had abducted the girl from the same house where they lived as tenants.

He said the suspects identified as Ahsan, Shakeel, and Faiza lived on the third floor of a three-story house belonging to a citizen named Nauman. He maintained that the trio allegedly abducted the homeowner’s sister suffering from a mental disability. They also stole jewelry and cash, he said, adding that a case of abduction and theft was registered and an investigation was conducted.

DSP Mirza Tahir further said that the police team arrested the three accused with the help of modern technology and human intelligence and recovered the abductee.

Around 70 tolas of gold jewelry worth Rs10 million and Rs0.6 million worth of cash were recovered from their possession, he said adding that further investigation was under way.
