Loralai DC, army captain die in road mishaps

CM Bizenjo sends condolences to the aggrieved families, regrets both incidents

The bloody roads of Balochistan continue to claim precious lives as five people, including the acting deputy commissioner of Loralai district and an army captain were killed in two different road accidents on Saturday.

Most of the highways in the largest province of the country by area are not dual roads and because of it traffic accidents occur on almost daily basis without inviting any attention from either provincial or federal governments.

The acting Deputy Commissioner Loralai, Jamil Ahmed Baloch, suffered serious injuries on the Benazir Flyover when his vehicle hit the boundary wall.

Police sources said Baloch was trying to save a motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction on one way when he hit the wall of the flyover.

He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Civil Hospital Quetta but succumbed to his injuries before reaching there. He was pronounced dead on arrival. The accident occurred early in the morning.

In another road accident, four young men were killed when their motor car collided with a truck coming from the opposite side on the Kuchlak bypass in Quetta.

Police said that four young men including a serving captain of the Army Hidayatullah were killed inside the car.

Rescue workers and people in the area reached the spot and retrieved the dead bodies from the vehicle, which was completely destroyed in the accident.

The dead bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Quetta. A large number of relatives and friends reached the hospital.

The deceased captain and two other young men hailed from Chaman, a town on the border with Afghanistan.

Their funeral prayers were offered in Chaman on Saturday attended by thousands of people. One of the deceased, Nauman Kasi, was laid to rest in Quetta.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo has expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of five precious lives. In a condolence statement issued on Saturday evening, Bizenjo expressed sympathies with the devastated families.
