The hype is worth every paisa: ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ gets a mighty nod from Adnan Siddiqui

The filmmaker was present at the premiere night of Bilal Lashari’s magnum opus in Lahore

On October 13, the much-awaited film The Legend of Maula Jatt, finally opened its doors to the audience. While we’re waiting on reviews from moviegoers, Bilal Lashari’s magnum opus has already won the hearts of critics and filmmakers in the industry — with one of them being director, producer and actor Adnan Siddiqui.

The Dum Mastam producer, who was present at the glitzy premiere night in Lahore on Wednesday, took to Twitter to heap praises for the Fawad Khan starrer. “The hype is worth every naya paisa. [It has a] stellar cast, powerful performances and cinematic brilliance,” he wrote.

The Meray Paas Tum Ho actor further congratulated the team for offering Pakistani cinema this greatness. Attached with the tweet was a picture of Siddiqui with the mastermind behind the cult-classic remake, Lashari and his Maula Jatt, Khan. “The Legend Of Maula Jatt is the movie all of us were waiting for. Good things come to those who wait and here we are! Congratulations team!” he concluded.

Ticket prices for The Legend of Maula Jatt reportedly increased for the initial 11 days. They will drop down to regular prices afterward, as per reports. A reboot of Yunus Malik’s 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt, the film is a re-telling of the story of the rivalry between Maula Jatt and Noori Natt.

Directed by Lashari, The Legend of Maula Jatt stars Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Mirza Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Ali Azmat, Nayyer Ejaz, Shafqat Cheema, Raheela Agha, Zia Khan and Saima Baloch. The Punjabi film is being produced under the banner of Ammara Hikmat’s Encyclomedia and Lashari Films. Its distribution is being done by Nadeem Mandviwalla under Mandviwalla Entertainment.
