Double XL is being billed as a "humorous and joyful whirlwind voyage into the hearts of two plus-size ladies" as they deal with a culture that often equates a woman's appeal or beauty with her size.

The film explores themes of women supporting one another and celebrating bodies without any contempt. Author Mudassar Aziz and director Satramm Ramani are responsible for the social comedy. The film is set to release on November 4, 2022.

After hearing the film's plot, Shikhar claimed he was moved to join the project. His words, as reported by Pinkvilla, "As an athlete playing for the nation, life is always very hectic. One of my favourite pastimes is to watch good entertaining films. When this opportunity came to me and I heard the story, it made a deep impact on me. This is a lovely message for the whole society and I hope a lot of young girls and boys will keep pursuing their dreams no matter what."

Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra also feature in the movie. Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, Saqib Saleem, Huma Qureshi and Aziz serve as producers, while T-Series, Wakaoo Films, and Reclining Seats Cinema serve as distributors.

Shikhar is a renowned Indian cricketer. He is a left-handed opening batsman for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League and Delhi in first-class cricket and occasionally captains the Indian national team. Presently, he is exploring the world of Bollywood and making his ground with a rebellious narrative.
