RAWALPINDI:

A 60-year-old man was crushed to death by a speeding train near Mandra Toll Plaza on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 shifted the body to the tehsil headquarters hospital.

The deceased, later identified as Safdar Hussain, was mentally-deranged, police said adding that they have completed the identification process and started a search for heirs of the deceased. The body will be handed over to the heirs after the a post-mortem examination, police said.

Meanwhile, motorway police arrested a driver on charged of reckless driving and ramming his vehicle into a crowd.

police said that on Wednesday night, the accident took place in Khanqah Dogran where several men suffered injuries after they were hit by the reckless driver.

The motorway police said that the accident occurred due to the driver's negligence as he fell asleep while driving. The driver has been handed over to the police.

Motorway police immediately shifted the injured persons to the Pindi Bhattian hospital.

Motorway police said that legal action would be taken against the driver for driving recklessly.
