KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC), while hearing a petition, ordered the Director General of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) on Saturday to investigate the illegal construction on Plot No. 75/A in PECHS, Block 2.

The petitioner's counsel submitted that illegal constructions were undertaken in PECHS while the SBCA was reluctant to take action. During the hearing, SBCA Deputy Director Nazir Hussain Laghari submitted a report in the court which declared the constructions illegal.

The court ordered the DG SBCA to conduct an investigation into the matter, fix responsibility, identify the officers responsible who were holding seats while the illegal construction started, and take action against them within 30 days.

The court directed that copies of its orders should be sent to the DG SBCA.

Meanwhile, the SHC ordered the DG SBCA to submit a compliance report after taking action against the officers involved in illegal construction of portions in Nazimabad No. 3. The petitioner's counsel submitted that a four-storey portion had been constructed on Plot No. 10/22, Nazimabad No. 3, Block H.

The counsel submitted that the builder had violated the building bylaws while constructing the structures. SBCA Deputy Director Syed Awais Hussain submitted an interim report in the court which declared the construction of the four-storey portion illegal.
