SUKKUR: Four members of a family, who were shot dead in an ambush in Kashmore, were laid to rest on Monday.

Mohammad Moosa Bhutto, Abdul Ghafoor Bhutto, Khadim Ali Bhutto and their nephew Mohammad Ismail were shot dead on Sunday night. They were returning from Badani after a dinner party. When they reached a stream outside their village, armed men, hiding in the bushes, ambushed them in an attack. All the men died on the spot and the attackers fled.

The police took the bodies to Kashmore hospital for an autopsy, but no case was registered till Monday.

It is believed that Sultan, alias Sulto Shar, a wanted criminal, is responsible for the murders. Last year, the Ghotki and Kashmore police launched an operation in which some of his aides were killed. The Bhutto men might have been murdered because Sultan believed that they tipped the police off about their hideouts.

The men were buried in Godi Bungalow village, in the limits of Miani police station, near Kashmore, on Monday.
