The Sindh High Court (SHC) has extended the injunction against the arrest of Haleem Adil Sheikh, the leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly, while seeking a reply from the Deputy Director Anti-Corruption Establishment.
A two-member bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, heard a petition against the ACE inquiry and arrest of Sheikh. The court was furious with the ACE authorities as it warned the officers to perform their duties with diligence.
"Provide details of the meeting in which it was recommended to file a case against the petitioner. Detailed reasons and evidence on the basis of which the case has been filed should also be presented," the court said.
JI MPA gets relief
A two-member bench of the SHC, headed by Justice Kalhoro, has restrained the police from taking any action in three cases against Jamaat-e-Islami MPA Abdul Rasheed and others while issuing notices to senior police and administration officials.
The bench issued the restraining order on a petition filed by Abdul Rasheed through his lawyer.
The counsel for the petitioner, Farrukh Usman Advocate, submitted that the cases were registered against his client and others for participating in a protest held by residents of Lyari on July 30.
