Police say gang involved in attacking Additional IG Sajjad Afridi

Police have stumbled into some members of a gang of criminals allegedly involved in attacking the Additional IG, Sajjad Afridi, on the Motorway and murdering an additional secretary and others during robbery bids.

It so happened that an alleged member of the gang was arrested while Lahore Police had been trailing some suspects who had been involved in stealing a woman’s car in the DHA area.

The victim, a lawyer by profession, walked up to her car to go home from office on July 18 after signing off.

No sooner had she sat in her car than another car intercepted her. Two strangers stepped off the car and forced themselves into the woman lawyer’s car and blindfolded her at gunpoint.

They took charge of the car and drove it to a distance.

The victim somehow managed to get out of the car and run for safety.

The suspects fled in her car. Along with the car, the robbers also stole the lawyer’s other valuables, including her laptop.

A case was registered and teams were formed to arrest the suspects. Police arrested a suspect a few days back. He was identified as Abdullah.

During investigations, it came forth that the gang had been involved in attacking Additional IG Sajjad Afzal Afridi on the Motorway. It was also involved in multiple cases of murder during robberies including that of an additional secretary.

Some of the alleged gang members, including Bilal Sabit, Imtiaz Langr, Arshad, Wajid and others have been killed in alleged encounters.

Two members of the gang are currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail while nine other members are said to be roaming in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other major cities subjecting the people of those cities with their criminal activities.
