LAHORE:

Anti-drugs and narcotics campaign experts have said that the use of drugs has increased among youth due to political and economic instability in the country but we are silent.

They also pointed out that a new trend of chemical addiction in educational institutions was on the rise and there was a need to take steps to curb the menace.

The experts also highlighted that children ask their parents why young people were using drugs on the streets, on footpaths and in parks of the provincial capital. Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) Director Syed Zulfiqar Husain was addressing a one-day training workshop on drug use prevention organised by the Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) and YOCFAN.

Different university students participated in the training workshop.

Dr Ikramul Islam M & E Officer also spoke on the occasion. Vice Chair Adeel Rashid and Coordinator Syed Mohsin were also present on the occasion. Hussain said a smoke- and drug-free campus was a unique intervention to protect the students from drugs in the world.

“Teachers, students and non-teaching staff can play a vital role to combat drug addiction in educational institutions.”
