ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail on Friday announced that the government would continue providing loans under the Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar (MPMG) scheme.

In a tweet, the federal minister said that he held a meeting with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in that regard, adding that the MPMG housing loan scheme would continue for all those whose loan applications had been approved and who had paid advances (bayana).

He said the government would also ask banks to reduce the interest rate they were charging.

Ismail said the government was still in the process of reshaping the scheme to make it cheaper and more widespread. “A revised scheme will be rolled out soon,” he added.
