Elected unopposed: PPP wins 500 seats in LG polls

PPP bags 500 seats in 16 districts, as PTI manages to grab 24 across Sindh

KARACHI:

Pakistan Peoples Party has won 500 seats unopposed from the 16 districts for the second phase of the local government (LG) elections.

Successful unopposed candidates from other parties included 24 from PTI, five from JUI-F, two from GDA, one from TLP, one from PSP, one from Awami Workers Party and six independent candidates.

As per available data, Matiari had 30 candidates who were elected unopposed, while there were 27 in Tando Allahyar, 134 in Hyderabad, 60 in Tando Muhammad Khan, 31 in Jamshoro, 70 in Dadu, 47 in Badin, 100 in Sujawal, 85 in Thatta, four in Malir and one each in Korangi and Keamari.
