Pedagogy to be overhauled under new agreement

Scheme is brainchild of International Institute of Online Education (IIOE)

An agreement was signed on Tuesday between the University of Education Lahore and the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, to enhance the pedagogical skills of teachers and modernise the teaching system. 

The program, launched in Pakistan in collaboration with UNESCO, was initiated by the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE). The agreement was formally signed by Vice Chancellor University of Education, Lahore Dr Talat Naseer Pasha (SI) and Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar. The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Township Campus of the University.

Under the agreement, teachers serving in higher education institutions will be trained in online and blended teaching to upgrade their methods of providing education and training to students.

Additionally, the main objective of IIOE is to aid developing countries like Pakistan realise the achievement of the educational targets set for 2030.  Speaking on the occasion, VC University of Education Dr Pasha said that humanity is facing complex challenges at present, but modern technology is an effective tool that can be used to combat them.

Emerging eucational technology has gained a special place in the field as well as in various spheres of life, since the teaching system can continue uninterrupted, much like it did during the Coronavirus epidemic.

"During the Corona epidemic, online education saved the world from catastrophe, so there is a great need for our teachers to enhance their teaching skills through modern technology," he added.

University of Engineering & Technology VC Dr Sarwar said that under the IIOE program, this agreement is of great importance. The University of Education has a special place in the country in terms of teacher education and training.
