RAWALPINDI:

In order to curb the trend of cheating at all the board examination centers in Rawalpindi and to get rid of the booti mafia, Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal sought help from the law enforcement agencies on Saturday.

A meeting was held at the commissioner’s office in this regard on Saturday under the chairmanship of the commissioner. The Board of Education chairman and other senior officers of the Education Department also attended the meeting.

Sources said that in addition to the installation of CCTV cameras in the examination centers, bar codes will also be affixed to the question papers. The agencies will support the Board of Education and the examination staff and the booti mafia will be eradicated forever, they added.

The meeting decided that different categories of examination centers would be created in which all the examination centers where there is a clear possibility of cheating during the examination would be declared as highly sensitive and CCTV cameras would be installed.

The presence of the students, staff and others would be monitored through these CCTV cameras at the examination centres.

Sources in the commissioner’s office said that letters would be written to the intelligence agencies in this regard and conditions would be fixed under which the examination centers would be monitored.

On Saturday, the district administration officials made surprise visits to various examination centres to review the security arrangements and ensure that the exams were being conducted in a smooth and fair manner.

According to a district administration spokesman, the SSC annual exams were being held in Rawalpindi Division under foolproof arrangements including security.
