Pakistan's political temperature has been rising amid the planned march by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) towards Islamabad, and one expects some political bickering in such situations, but some still manage to baffle the nation by stooping too low.

Such were the remarks by senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Rashid Soomro, who seems to have gone a bit too far in targeting his party's arch-rival, former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, with a verbal assault.

"What is your moral standing," Soomro said without naming anyone. "Don't we know who your father was?"

The politician then asked the crowds if they didn't know how "his [Imran Khan’s] father was sacked after he was found to be involved in corruption."

The JUI-F leader went on to add, "Don't we know your mother and where she was found by your father."

Soomro then added, "We can prove that you were born out of illicit relations."

The statement drew stern reactions from social media users, who called out the leader of the religio-political party over his unfounded remarks.
