KARACHI:

The Convener of Mutahhida Quomi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, in a message on the 29th death anniversary of Azeem Ahmed Tariq, the martyred chairman of MQM, said that Azeem Ahmed Tariq was the first chairman of the party who established a revolutionary organisation in the country's outdated hereditary traditional politics.

Dr. Siddiqui said that the efforts of Azeem Ahmed Tariq will be written in bold letters in the history. The tree which he planted during extremely unfavourable conditions has now become the only representative voice of the citizens of Sindh, he said. He further said that people like Azeem Ahmed Tariq are born in centuries.

He was a living example of the ideological foundation of MQM and a pioneer of Mahajar culture. Dr Khalid Maqbool further said that the only fault of thousands of martyred MQM workers and Azeem Ahmed Tariq was that they strived to represent the poor in the power corridors and sent middle-class youth into houses filled with feudal lords. All this was not acceptable to the ruling elite due to which thousands of MQM workers as well as MQM chairman were killed. Even today, hundreds of workers are facing forced disappearances and imprisonment.

He said that every single worker of MQM Pakistan including himself has promised that the struggle of all martyrs including Azeem Ahmed Tariq will not go waste. "We will steadfastly continue our peaceful struggle," he said. MQM P convenor paid homage to Azeem Ahmed Tariq and said that MQM Pakistan and the nation would always remember the sacrifice of the great leader.
