Body of stage actress returned to family

The body of a stage actress who was killed at her doorstep in Taj Colony was returned to her family after an autopsy.

A case was registered against five accused and raids are being conducted for their arrest. In the case filed by Muhammad Irfan, a resident of Taj Colony, it was stated that his wife Sehrish, alias Nida, used to be a dancer.

There had been a Hudood trial between her and the accused, Rafaqat alias Chhama and Danish alias Dani, for two and a half years due to resentment at her profession.

At the behest of the named accused, two unidentified persons allegedly killed Sehrish and injured her step son, Abdullah on Friday.

Police registered a case under the provisions of 302,324,148,149 PPC and handed over the body.

On April 15, unidentified people shot dead a stage dancer on the doorstep of her house and injured a 12-year-old boy In Sargodha Road area.

The 29-year-old stage performer, Sehrish Bibi alias Nida, used to perform at theatre and private family functions.

She was also a plaintiff in two cases under the Hudood laws. Unidentified people knocked at the door of the victim’s house at dawn. Sehrish opened the door and got shot at in the chest.

Twelve-year-old Abdullah, son of Amin, was also injured in the firing.

Police took possession of the body of the artiste, shifted it to the hospital for postmortem and started searching for the unidentified accused.
