IGP orders operations against fugitives stepped up

Directs CIA, ACLC to improve performance, prioritise technology

ISLAMABAD:

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Ahsan Younas directed field police officers to intensify operations against fugitives and anti-social elements to break networks of the nefarious gangs of criminals.

IGP chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) regarding the crime situation of the past three months. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Operations, SSP Investigation, assistant inspector generals (AIG), zonal special police(SPs), sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and station house officer (SHOs) participated in the meeting.

He also expressed displeasure over the performance of the Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) and Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC). The IGP instructed them to improve their performance and take steps to prevent car theft cases in the federal capital. The DIG Operations was asked to provide extra personnel and vehicles to police stations with the eployment of Eagle and Falcon Squads to improve performance.

"Delay in registration of FIR will not be tolerated, if any complaint is lodged in this regard, strict departmental action will be taken against the SHO concerned," he warned.

He said, all SHOs should expedite the crackdown on gamblers, thugs, drug dealers, brothels and aerial firing in their respective areas under the supervision of senior officers. The operation should be intensified towards illegal occupation of public and private lands and properties across the city, he said.

He said geo-fencing, forensic science, and modern investigation tools should also be used to investigate other serious crimes including murder and rape.
