A woman was arrested for killing her 22-day-old baby girl in Liaquatabad on Saturday.
Reportedly, the woman confessed her crime during a police investigation and the murder weapon was also recovered.
SSP Shehla Qureshi said that the body of 22-day-old Zimal Fatima was found inside the house in Liaquatabad No. 7 on March 10, who was stabbed to death with a sharp instrument.
The police said the girl's mother, Umaima, initially told police that an unknown assailant entered her house from the roof and killed the baby during a robbery bid.
The police said that Umaima was repeatedly changing her statements but later confessed her crime of killing her daughter during the investigation.
In her statement to the police, she stated that her daughter was crying and she tried to calm her down, which did not work. She told police that she took out a knife from the drawer of the table and stabbed her to death.

The police said that the accused scattered the household items to make it seem like a robbery scene. The accused pleaded guilty before the court of Judicial Magistrate in Karachi City Court. The court has sent the woman to jail on judicial remand.
