Three children among four beaten to death

Suspect had property dispute with his brother

GUJRAT:

A woman and her three children were killed in their sleep.

The incident took place in Shampur village within the limits of Kakrali Police Station. Sakina Bibi, 36, Abdul Shan, 13, Ayesha, 11, and Maryam, 7, were asleep at their home when they were beaten to death with sticks.

Upon receiving the report of the incident, police and forensic teams reached the spot, collected evidence and shifted the bodies to the hospital for autopsy.

According to the DPO of Gujrat, Umar Salamat, the murders were a result of a property dispute within the family.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspected killer, Safdar Hussain, had a property dispute with his brother, Munawar Hussain, who resided in Saudi Arabia.

He allegedly committed the heartbreaking act of killing his sister-in-law, a nephew and two nieces while his brother had been abroad.

Accused Safdar Hussain had been arrested by the police.

The IGP of Punjab, Rao Sardar, took notice of the incident and demanded a report from the RPO of Gujranwala, while the DPO of Gujrat had been issued instructions to monitor the investigation and ensure justice to the bereaved family.

In an incident of violence last month, a two-month-old baby girl was strangled and her father and mother were slaughtered in washroom of their residence with their hands bound behind their backs in Lahore by unidentified suspects, allegedly over a property dispute, police had said.

According to officials, 33-year-old advocate Amanat Ali and his family had been murdered in their own home in a private housing society within the limits of Chung police station.

Police officials had been taking into account the alleged involvement of Amanat’s brother Ameen in the gruesome triple murder case over a property dispute. The suspect did not show up at the crime scene despite the police's direction.

The suspect had recently come out after spending a few years behind bars. The father of the deceased, Amanat, had also been murdered a few years back, also allegedly over a property issue.
