KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued an arrest warrant against the director SBCA District Central for not appearing before the court despite summons in a petition against illegal constructions in FB Area, Block-9.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi heard the petition. The court was angry with the SBCA officials for not complying with its orders. Justice Rizvi remarked that in 2018, response was sought from the relevant authorities on illegal constructions but despite the summons, neither the SCBA director appear in the court nor submitted any reply.

The assistant director SBCA appeared in the court instead of the director. At this, Justice Rizvi asked why the director SBCA did not come by himself. "Is he such an important man that he would not even appear in the court?" the judge remarked.

The court issued an arrest warrant for the SBCA director District Central over non-appearance. The court ordered that the SBCA director should be produced in the court after arrest. The court remarked that if he did not appear at the next hearing, non-bailable arrest warrants will be issued for him to be produced in the court. The court had sought report on illegal constructions on Plot No696 L / 8 and Plot No696/6.
