Islamic calligraphy exhibition showcases artist’s works

Show features more than 50 pieces by Amna Hanif

ISLAMABAD:

An exhibition of Islamic calligraphy works by Amna Hanif has been organised under the auspices of the Punjab Arts Council (PAC) to encourage new talent.

Pakistan Academy of Letters Chairman Dr Yousuf Khushk inaugurated the exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khushk said that the art of Islamic calligraphy was the heritage of the Muslims and Islamic calligraphy was an expression of Muslims' immense love for Qur'an and Hadith. Pakistan had given many famous calligraphers to the world, including Sadequain, Elahi Bakhsh Mati, Khawaja Muhammad Hussain and many other Presidential Award winners, he said, adding that the growing trend of the young generation towards Islamic calligraphy was appreciable.

In the end, the special guest also congratulated Amna Hanif on the successful exhibition. PAC Deputy Director Sajjad Hussain said that the council had always brought quality work to the world. He said that the platform of Arts Council was open to all young artists, painters and calligraphers.

The exhibition features more than 50 works by Amna. A large number of people from different walks of life attended the event. The show will remain open until February 25.
