At least two people were killed and several others injured after gusty winds blowing at a speed of 60km per hour battered Karachi on Friday.
According to the Express News, strong winds toppled the walls and damaged other structures in several areas of the metropolis. Several motorcyclists also sustained injuries after they lost their balance due to strong winds.

Two persons, identified as Sadiq and Ajmal, were shifted to hospital after their motorbike slipped near Power House Gulbai Kanta area on the Northern Bypass.

In Gulshan-e-Maymar town, one person was killed after high winds brought down a wall of the house. His body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
This happened today at Karachi University’s certificate distribution ceremony. According to PDMA Sindh, strong winds are blowing across Karachi at 30-35kts/hr.

Similarly, a part of the roof of a house in Baldia Town Sparko Road collapsed, injuring three people who were rushed to the hospital.
The tents, banners and lights of Jamaat-e-Islami’s ongoing sit-in against Sindh local body act were also damaged in strong winds.
An under-construction wall collapsed in North Karachi area but fortunately no casualties were reported.
The Met Office forecast that strong and dusty winds could continue till midnight with wind speed of 45 to 60km per hour.
