LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday heard a case in which Sialkot police had made a woman, who had died 16 years ago, a complainant in the First Information Report (FIR).

The FIR stated that the complainant was beaten by accused Akbar, who along with his henchmen, destroyed her wheat crop and also stole her fertilizer.

During the hearing of the case, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan inquired how was it possible that a woman, who died in 2005, was made the complainant in a robbery case in 2021.

On the court’s query, the petitioner’s counsel also produced the death certificate of the deceased.

Petitioner Muhammad Akbar, who was nominated as accused in the FIR, contended that he had nothing to do with this case and he had been implicated in a false FIR.

Furthermore, the petitioner’s counsel contended that the accused was the real brother of the complainant.

“While close relative Arshad got booked in the false FIR; he is merely occupying their property," the counsel further prayed.

The counsel claimed that the police had vested interest in the case and further prayed the court that his client had obtained pre-arrest bail from a district court and now, the case has been moved to the LHC for quashing the FIR.

The justice sought a reply from Sialkot police on the petition.
