Govt agrees to providing health risk allowance, job promotions

Nurses protesting for their rights emerged successful in the 18-day long struggle after the Sindh government approved their demands on Friday.

The jubilant nurses ended their protest camp outside the Karachi Press Club.

Sindh Health Department approved Young Nurses Association Sindh demands. The department approved the provision of Health Risk Allowance. Moreover, the health department also approved Rs8,000 Health Professional Allowance to all nurses of Grade 16 to 20.

While announcing the end of the protest, the Young Nurses Association Sindh President Ejaz Clary said that the four-tier formula for promotion of nurses was implemented. The formula was approved in 2019.

The Nurses' Services Rules have been approved, and the Staff Nurses' Senior List has been created. By the end of January, 614 Nursing Officers from Grade 16 to Grade 17 will be promoted to the post of Senior Nurse.

After promotion, Grade 17 nurses will be promoted to Grade 18 head nurse and nursing superintendent. Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and National Institute of Child Health (NICH) four-tier audit copy summary has also been sent to the Finance Department.

The seniority list of Clinical Lecture and Nursing Lecture Grade 18 has been sent to the Services Department.

Young Nurses Association thanks Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho, Health Secretary Zulfiqar Shah.

The Young Nurses Association prefers to work closely with the Sindh Health Department. The work is underway on a policy of nurses 'deputation policy and a summary of nurses' scholarships.

After approving the demands, they are ending their sit-in today and have also restored services in all hospitals.
