Disbursement of Zakat may go biometric: official

Says issues related to the distribution of Zakat will be resolved on a priority basis

Sindh Chief Minister's Adviser on Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Fayyaz Ali Butt said all issues related to the distribution of Zakat will be resolved on a priority basis. He said a biometric system is being activated for the transparent and fair distribution of Zakat.

He said this while presiding over a meeting, held at the Sindh Assembly Building Committee Room on Wednrsday. The meeting was also attended by Zakat and Ushr Secretary Ghulam Abbas Detho and district Zakat chairmen from across the province.

Issues related to the distribution of Zakat were discussed in the meeting. It also also reviewed the performance of the Zakat district chairmen. On this occasion, the chairmen informed Fayyaz Ali Butt of their problems.

Butt assured them that their issues would be resolved on a priority basis. Butt said that the provision of Zakat to the deserving should be the top priority and there was an urgent need to make the whole process transparent.
