The action-adventure comedy stars Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds.

Written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, Red Notice was among the much-awaited films of the year, given its popular cast and genre. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, each with a blockbuster franchise headlined under their name, it was hardly a surprise when on November 12, and the action-adventure comedy broke records with the biggest opening day of any Netflix original film in history.

Before its release, one of the film’s producers claimed that Red Notice would be “the biggest movie Netflix has ever done,” and his words stand true. Ever since Netflix became more open about its viewership numbers, it is easier to track how a film is doing among the masses following its release. The service reveals its most popular films and shows, based on the number of accounts that watched at least two minutes of a title in its first 28 days.

Prior to the release, Netflix went on an advertising blitz to manifest the film’s success and it apparently paid off. According to FlixPatrol, Red Notice has only been streaming for a couple of days and is already the top movie on the streaming platform in nearly every country worldwide.

The stars are rejoicing over its success and have taken to social media to celebrate and announce the news. Gadot shared a poster of her now hit film on Instagram with the caption, "This is amazing!!!! What can I say, you guys are the best and the reason why we make these films. So grateful and excited!!! Congratulations Netflix and to the entire Red Notice team." Reynolds and The Rock also showed gratitude to their team and fans on their Instagram profiles.

However, the flick might struggle to retain the viewership momentum in the coming weeks to crack the all-time top 10 movies on Netflix. While it certainly garnered attention due to its cast and advertising, it wasn't praised by critics. It currently ranks at 36% on Rotten Tomatoes with over 120 critical reviews.
