Four lose their lives in a roadside blast in Bajaur

Six people were martyred in three separate terrorist attacks in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Balochistan on Wednesday.

Four personnel — two Bajaur Scouts men and two policemen — were martyred in a roadside IED attack in Bajaur tribal district of K-P.

District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur Sumad Khan told The Express Tribune that in the afternoon, two people were injured in a roadside blast in the Pir Bandagai area.

The police was informed about the attack. Two hours later, two policemen and as many Bajaur Scouts were sent to the spot to inspect the site of the attack.

“In the first IED attack, two private drivers, who were working with the Bajaur Scouts, travelling in a vehicle were martyred. When the police and Bajaur Scouts team reached the site for inspection, their vehicle hit a roadside IED in which all four personnel were martyred,” he said.

“The attack was a well-planned one and the police vehicle was the target.

“A homemade, remote controlled IED device was used in the blast,” he said, adding that police constable Noor Rehman, driver Sumad Khan and two Bajaur Scouts personnel, Jamshed and Mudasar, were among the dead. They too were using a civilian vehicle which was left completely destroyed in the attack.

A large number of police and Bajaur Scouts contingents carried a out a door-to -door search operation and several suspect were taken into custody.

In a separate attack in Hangu district, a soldier embraced martyrdom when a post was attacked by terrorists in Thall area. The attack was repulsed by the security forces, according to ISPR press release.

In Balochistan, a sepoy Muhammad Qaisar lost his life in a terrorist attack in Kech district. Soon after the blast, the area was cordoned off by the security personnel for search operation.
