The Sindh High Court on Wednesday allowed the appeal of a convict against his sentence in cases of robbery and attempted murder.
A two-judge bench, headed by Justice KK Agha, ruled on the appeal of accused Abid Masih against his 20-year imprisonment in cases of robbery and attempted murder. The court granted the appeal and quashed the sentence. The court ordered that the accused should be acquitted if he not wanted in any other case. Police failed to provide concrete evidence to support the allegations.
Meanwhile, the SHC sought a progress report from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the bail application of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani who has been accused of making illegal appointments at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University.
A two-judge bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, heard the bail plea.
The NAB prosecutor told the court that the bureau has completed the inquiry against Agha Siraj Durrani and other suspects. A draft has been sent to the headquarters to file a reference and a reply would be submitted after getting approval from the NAB chairman.
“Respite should be given till the approval from the NAB chairman,” the prosecutor said. The court, while seeking a progress report on the next hearing, extended the interim bail of Durrani till November 30.
Official price of milk
Moreover, the SHC has directed the petitioner to submit a receipt of the complaint in a petition filed against the relevant government authorities for not controlling the price of milk.

A two-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh, heard the petition.
The court questioned the petitioner’s counsel, advocate Irfan Aziz, on whether his client approached the Karachi commissioner for redressal of his complaint.
“Show the receipt of the complaint regarding the complaint of overcharging,” the court remarked.
The petitioner’s counsel requested the court to allow two days for submission of the receipt. The court allowed the time and directed the petitioner to submit the receipt of the complaint at the next hearing on Friday.
The petition argued that the milk was not available at the official rate in the entire city. “The price of milk has gone up to Rs140 per litre and above,” the petition argued, adding the relevant authorities have failed to implement the court’s decision.
“The court should order the sale of milk at the official rate,” it said.
The Sindh chief secretary, director bureau of supply and prices department, Karachi commissioner as well as dairy and cattle farms associations have been named parties in the petition.
