QUETTA:

The National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Balochistan chapter on Monday denied a video clip circulating on social media claiming the clearance of Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority (GIEDA).

The doctored video released by Gwadar Mega Associates, a real estate agency operating from Karachi, was widely shared by netizens on various social media platforms in an attempt to lure people to purchase land being sold by GEIDA.

It is pertinent to note that the accountability bureau had opened an investigation that is currently underway against the top officials of GEIDA and others for their alleged involvement in the illegal allotment of plots to the public.

“The letter being circulated on social media is fake, baseless, fabricated and unfounded in an effort to mislead the people,” read the anti-graft watchdog’s statement. The bureau warned the general public to ensure all legal formalities before going through any allotment process in the GIEDA.

The statement issued by the accountability watchdog further read that the video clip released by Gwadar Mega Associates regarding the clearance of GIEDA is misleading the people as NAB has neither issued a letter of clearance to GIEDA nor gave a clean chit to any individual or officials in the case of illegal allotment of land by GIEDA authorities and others.
