LG introduces e-tendering system

The online tendering facility has revolutionised the working style of Local Government Department by streamlining and expediting processes while ensure transparency in public procurement.

Punjab Minister for Local Government Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed expressed these views while addressing a training workshop on Monday.

“A dashboard is being developed on the provincial level for monitoring the e-tendering system to further improve the efficiency and transparency of the system,” he highlighted.

The minister said that with the implementation of e-tendering system contractors can participate in the bidding process from anywhere in the world.

“Now all the contractors affiliated with the Pakistan Engineering Council will have access to equal opportunities and the process has become paperless,” Rasheed added.

Local Government and Community Development Department Secretary Noorul Ameen Mangel told the workshop participants that with the introduction of new reforms in the development sector transparency, merit and good governance can be maintained.

She underscored that the condition of enlistment has been abolished with the implementation of online tendering system. “Awareness sessions would also be conducted for the guidance of the contractors in different phases at all divisional headquarters.”
