HYDRABAD:

A grandson of late Sindhi nationalist leader G M Syed has been booked in the FIR, lodged at Sann police station in Jamshoro district, for allegedly digging up 13 graves, exhuming the bodies and relocating the remains.

The FIR has been registered on the complaint of ASI Badaruddin Kalhoro.

Syed Zarfar Haider Shah, blamed for the act by the people of the Mallah community, has been booked under section 297 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). However, the offence if proved will bring a minor punishment of up to one year imprisonment or fine, or both.

The people of Mallah community held a protest in Sann on Saturday condemning the accused person and demanding justice.

“The desecration of graves is a severe violation of human rights and it should be punished accordingly,” said Ghulam Hussain Mirbahar.
