Head clerk arrested for ‘accepting Rs500k in bribe’

Anti-corruption team arrested a head clerk and registered a case against him after he was caught red-handed accepting Rs500,000 bribe in exchange for hiring a relative as beldar at the irrigation department.

Reportedly, the stand was taken in the application submitted to the Faisalabad Anti-Corruption director by Beldar Ataullah of irrigation department that Ahmad Raza Bhatti, the head clerk posted in the Anhar department for recruiting his relatives in the fourth grade, was demanding a bribe of Rs500,000 from him on which the Anti-corruption director sent the anti-corruption district council circle officer along with Inspector Nasir Chatha Qasim Shah and Faiz Abbas.

They went with the beldar and arrested the head clerk red after he was caught red-handed accepting the bribe.

A case was registered against the head clerk and he was remanded in the custody of Civil Lines police station.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he was accompanied by three other employees of the department who took bribes to recruit Class IV employees. A team from the anti-corruption department also started raids to arrest the other three suspects.
