Rawalpindi CPO orders probe into torture of two men

Saddar police have arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his daughter-in-law over a domestic issue.

The victim, a mother of three children, told the police that she drives a pick-and-drop van to make a living and help her ailing husband. The victim said that her father-in-law, Amanullah, and two brothers-in-law, Shahid and Zahid, assaulted her when she went out for work.

She said her husband, Daud, came to her rescue when he heard the commotion. The victim was later shifted to a hospital by Rescue 1122.

The police arrested the father-in-law of the victim after registering an initial FIR of the case.

Saddar Police House Officer Inspector Malik Allahyar said that further sections would be incorporated in the FIR after the medical report of the victim was received. He added the police were carrying out raids to arrest the other accused.


Meanwhile, the victim has complained that the police have kept her husband in the lock-up as well. In response to the allegation, police said that in a viral video, the victim had also accused her husband of attacking her. The police said that he has been kept at the police station for questioning.

Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younis has ordered to arrest the suspects who had kept two youngsters in illegal confinement and tortured them.

The CPO issued arrest orders after the torture of two youngsters went viral on social media late on Sunday.

In the clip, the tormentors could be seen meeting out humiliating treatment to the victims and making them chant slogans in favour of an election candidate. After the incident, the Saddar police have registered a case against unidentified suspects and started an investigation.
